Hey everyone! I’m Morgan, the human behind the camera!
I'm a full time elementary school teacher who has a HUGE passion for photography.
I took my first photography class in high school and fell in love! It’s been a process and a journey to get to where I am today, but I can say I’m proud of it!
Just a few fun facts about me! I love dogs, plants, and country music. My other hobbies/passions are ceramics, drawing, reading, and watching Gilmore girls.
Why Roots?
Getting Back to my creative roots
When I began my journey as a photographer, I named my business Strahm Photography. As I have come a long way from where I started and changed my last name (because I got married!!!), I figured it was time to rebrand and transition into more professionalism. When picking a new name for my business, I wanted to be very intentional. I wanted a name that meant something to me. This got me thinking about why I do photography, why I create. As a Christian, I believe God gifted me with an artistic ability and an eye for photography. God was the first creator when he spoke the heavens, earth, and everything in between into existence. As all mankind is made in His image, we were designed to create beautiful things, just as God did. My desire to create is ROOTED in the first Creator. I chose the name roots because I want to emphasize my creative roots. I create because I was made in the image of the creator!
My Partner in Crime
Meet my HUSBAND! Bo has been my biggest supporter throughout my journey as a photographer. I can still remember when he first found out I did photography. He saw a post and texted me saying something along the lines of "I didn't know you did pictures! That's so cool! You're so good!" And that was looong before I would say my pictures actually got good. He has always supported me along my journey and celebrated even the smallest achievements with me! (He also doubles as my chauffeur/assistant at some shoots and weddings)
What to Expect
Honestly who knows haha. If you have booked a wedding with me chances are this guy is tagging along as my assistant. I'm not the loudest person, but he sure is good at being loud. This helps the day run smoother (especially the big family pictures). He also tags along with other sessions too. As you can see in this picture, he makes a great prop, phone, and backpack holder. Whatever it is that I need, this guy is here for that. We try to keep the vibe relaxed and goofy. Our hope is always to make you guys feel comfortable, while we capture your story!

Silcox Wedding
Before I tell you about my experience with Roots Photo Co., I should give you a little bit of background of my wedding. Here are some things that happened in the 48 hours before the wedding: my sister gave birth, I was let go from my job, my husband lost his wedding ring, and I left half of the decor at home (the wedding was halfway across the state). Here are some things that happened the day of the wedding: we woke up late, nobody showed up to help set up the venue, I lost my wedding ring during pictures, and eventually I spilled pickle juice down the front of my white dress. To say we were stressed is an understatement.
With all of that in mind here is my opinion of Roots Photo Co.:
At no point in time did Morgan add any stress to my day. I gave her directions to find our airbnb, which almost everyone else had trouble finding. She was the only person to find it without my help. She showed up, I told her the situation and she adapted without skipping a beat. Every punch that was handed to us on the wedding day, she acted like a wedding coordinator and helped us navigate. Morgan and her husband Bo kept the wedding together and made us laugh along the way. Shoutout to Bo for making sure we got our moneys worth of the pizza truck haha.
I don't want to over shadow the wonderful communication and how easy Morgan is to get along with. From the moment I reached out I felt comfortable with letting Morgan photograph our wedding.
